-@mahnooreu I was on the train from Lake Como to Milan on April 16th with my half Chinese boyfriend, his Chinese mom, and his white dad. I am Pakistani. We are all American. I noticed these girls sitting across from us staring me down and laughing and speaking Italian. At first, I ignored it. Then I stared back at them. They didn’t stop so I made my bf aware, then took a nap. I woke up from the nap to them doing the same thing but more aggressively. I asked them, “Is there a problem?” They said, “No there isn’t a problem.” At that point they started saying “Ni hao!” in an obnoxious, racist, loud voice, along with other things in Italian I couldn’t understand. They continued getting more and more aggressive, laughing at and mocking us. Eventually, I started filming them. They were the most calm during the video but you can still hear them saying ni hao and get a vibe of their general attitude. Never in my life have I experienced such blatant racism. My boyfriend said the same thing. I expected better from the younger generation. After I shared this on IG, many of my Asian friends shared their stories of experiencing racism in Italy and Europe. America may have its race issues, but Europe is 20 years behind. I hope you Italians can find these girls and shame them. It was truly disgusting behavior and I hope they learn a lesson from this. Il video pubblicato su TikTok ha raggiunto 17,9 milioni di visualizzazioni. Almeno fino a ieri sera, dopo essere diventato virale in un paio di giorni. Ne sono passati 9, invece, dall’accaduto. È il 16 di aprile quando Mahnoor Euceph, influencer e regista statunitense di origine pakistana, di ritorno dal lago di Como verso Milano filma sul treno tre ragazze che poi si scopriranno essere italiane e studentesse universitarie.
Ridono, incrociano lo sguardo dell’influencer che sta riprendendo e ogni tanto allungano la mano quasi a indicarla. Sono in corso prese in giro poi considerate «razziste», come affermerà la stessa Euceph. La spiegazione di quegli attimi la fornisce l’autrice del video nella descrizione del post: «Ero in treno con il mio fidanzato, per metà cinese, sua madre, appunto cinese, e suo padre. Ho notato queste ragazze ridere e parlare in italiano. Prima le ho ignorate.
Poi hanno continuato a farlo ma più aggressive. Allora ho chiesto se ci fosse qualche problema. Mi hanno risposto di no». A quel punto, racconta Euceph, sono iniziati gli scimmiottamenti, che lei ha ritenuto discriminatori. Deridevano la nazionalità del fidanzato, asiatico, e di sua madre.
Non se ne è accorto nessuno ma su TikTok è diventato virale nel mondo (2 milioni di like, 50 000 commenti) il video di tre ragazze italiane che sul treno per Como perculano dei passeggeri cinesi con atteggiamenti razzisti. «Ripetevano “Ni hao!” (“ciao” in cinese, ndr .) in un modo odioso e razzista».
Le prese in giro si sono affievolite per trasformarsi in risate di gruppo quando l’influencer ha estratto il telefono per documentare la situazione. «In vita mia non avevo mai sperimentato un razzismo così palese». E aggiunge: «Spero che voi italiani possiate trovare queste ragazze».
È l’auspicio finale con cui si chiude la descrizione del video su TikTok. O almeno era il suo, di finale. Perché la rete dei social non ha tradito. Le tre giovani sono state rintracciate dagli utenti e i loro nomi, profili, università (Bicocca, Cattolica e Iulm) e luoghi di lavoro resi pubblici. I commenti sono esplosi e addirittura qualcuno è arrivato a chiederne l’espulsione dagli atenei. […]
